Shizuoka Prefecture stretches along Eastern Japan's southern coast, offering breathtaking views of Mount Fuji, rich natural beauty, and deep history and culture. The prefecture is divided into three main areas.

The eastern area is home to Mount Fuji, a breathtaking World Cultural Heritage Site. Onsen hot spring sites along the Izu Peninsula are popular, allowing visitors to enjoy both wild nature and true relaxation.

The central area includes Shizuoka City, featuring historical sites associated with Tokugawa Ieyasu like Sunpu Castle and Kunozan Toshogu Shrine. It's also renowned as a major tea-producing region.

In the western area, Hamamatsu City is known as a hub of craftsmanship and industry – from musical instruments to motorcycles and more. Lake Hamana is also a wonderful site for gourmet cuisine and leisure activities.

Conveniently accessible by bullet train, Shizuoka Prefecture offers diverse attractions – from Mount Fuji to the sea, mountains, culture and cuisine – making it a must-visit destination.

Get closer to Mt.Fuji.

The Mt. Fuji World Heritage Centre, Shizuoka serves as a hub for preserving and passing down the legacy of Fujisan, sacred place and source of artistic inspiration, which was registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in June 2013. At our centre, we carry out activities based on four pillars: Preserve Forever, Enjoy and Learn, Broadly Interact, and Thoroughly Investigate. Through these efforts, we introduce the history, culture, and nature of Mt. Fuji from various perspectives to visitors from Japan and around the world.

Why not take a virtual mountain climbing experience on our spiral slope and learn about Mt. Fuji through our immersive video displays? Our exhibition guides, accessible via your smartphone, are available in multiple languages (English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean). Don’t miss the breathtaking view of the majestic Mt. Fuji from the fifth-floor observation hall or the iconic architecture of the building itself, which is designed to be an inverted Mt. Fuji.
